Michael J. Tiry came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of twenty-nine. His deep appreciation for having the assurance of eternal life, his passion for study, and his quest for truth compelled him to search deeply into the Bible with a desire to learn its truth that he might present the riches of God’s grace to others. Over the last forty years Michael has been involved in itinerate preaching, a church planting ministry, and a teaching and preaching ministry at Berean Bible Church in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin; Michael also serves Berean Bible Church as director of the Timothy Institute, designed to prepare men for leadership in local churches. Additionally, Mike has been active over the last fourteen years in a prison ministry. Michael and his wife of forty years, Linda, have raised five daughters.
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2Tim. 2:15) As Bible students, we certainly want our workmanship to meet God’s approval. But what is this “Rightly dividing the word of truth?” Actually, what we find in the Bible is that there are two distinctively different programs. One program is called “Prophecy” because it is “that which was spoken by the mouth of all of his prophets since the world began” (Luke 1:70). The other is called “the Mystery” because it is “the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery which was kept secret since the world began…” (Rom. 16:25).
There are two main themes that we find unfold in the Bible. One theme (Bible Prophecy) centers in the nation of Israel and involves a kingdom that our Lord Jesus Christ will set up on the earth. The Bible term for that kingdom is “The Kingdom of Heaven.” The author M. J. Tiry has a series of studies that deal with Bible Prophecy. He also has a series that is being published in the Grace series which deals with the Mystery.
There are four books by M J Tiry in the Bible Prophecy Series. They are 1) A Study in Daniel – The Kingdom of Heaven in Prophecy; 2) Matthew’s Gospel – A Study of the King and His Kingdom; 3) A Study in Hebrews – Israel and the New Covenant; and 4) A Study in the Revelations – the End Time Fulfillment of Bible Prophecy. These are expository studies of each of these key books on Bible Prophecy.
The Bible theme that concerns the present dispensation of grace is revealed and explained in the Pauline Epistles. That theme concerns a body of believer that is essentially a Gentile church called “the Church which is His Body” or what we call “the church, the Body of Christ.” While Prophecy is concerned with a kingdom set up on the earth through Israel, the Bible program called “the Mystery” concerns a body of believers which has a destiny that is “eternal in the heavens” (2Cor. 5:1). Information on the study of the mystery is found in the book “Super Abounding Grace – a Study in the Book of Romans” by M. J. Tiry and in the soon to be released book “the Grace Trilogy – Studies in Ephesians, Philippians and Colossians.” Other titles will be added to the Grace series in the future.
